I was one of those who were not in favor of the original Little Mermaid going to China for the World Expo. The Danish exhibit is call "Welfairytales" and I do think that is very appropriate. Denmark is a Well and Fair place.It is also the land of fairytales that do not mask the truth. "The Little Match Girl" brings tears to your eyes as she freezes to death at the end of the story.
If you visit Denmark between now and November "The Lille Havefrue" will not be in the harbor . You can, however, see a replica of her at the world famous amusement park in downtown Copenhagen called Tivoli, which is on loan from the heirs of the sculptor Edvard Eriksen. Maybe someone will have even given her a Swedish t-shirt. The Lady always has a sense of humor.
